MONTREAL – A five-year-old boy is in critical condition after being found unconscious in a lake in Saint-Hilairion located in Quebec’s Charlevoix region.
According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the incident happened shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.

It was a family member who found the child in the lake.
The boy was pulled from the water and attempts were made to resuscitate him.
Emergency crews took over the rescue operation and the child was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
Police say he was later transferred to a hospital in Quebec City for treatment and is fighting for his life.
The SQ is investigating.
