Caught on Camera: Indian politician falls into open sewage line after ground collapses

A 40-year-old lawmaker suffered head and shoulder injuries on Monday after she fell into a sewage line as the slab she was standing on collapsed.

Poonam Maadam, a member of parliament from Jamnagar in the Western Indian state of Gujarat, was talking to officials from the local municipal corporation during a demolition drive when the incident occurred, according to local news reports.

She was rescued by police officials who were present on the spot, rushed to a local hospital, and later airlifted to Mumbai for treatment, reports said.

Her condition was said to be stable as of Monday evening, according to reports.
