A man from Saint John, New Brunswick was sentenced to four years in prison on Friday for charges related to the sexual exploitation of children.
An investigation was launched in May 2015 after RCMP in New Brunswick received information indicating the man was making child pornography.
He was accused of secretly filming the children of family members as well as his neighbor’s children.
The RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation and Technological Crime units and the Saint John Police Force led the investigation. A search warrant was issued on December 4, 2015 with two more being issued in January 2016.
The investigation led to the identification of two victims under the age of 14 and two adult victims.
The man, who cannot be named due to a court-imposed publication ban, was charged with possession of child pornography, breaching an undertaking and two counts of voyeurism.
He pleaded guilty to the charges on March 31.
In addition to serving four years in prison, the man will be placed on the National Sex Offender Registry for life. He’ll also have to submit a sample to the National DNA database.
