EDMONTON – Crews battled a house fire near the University of Alberta Friday morning.
The fire broke out at around 4 a.m. in the area of 110 Street and University Avenue.
The blaze started in one home, before the flames quickly spread to neighbouring houses. Nine people were displaced in the fire.

Jasmine Rauseo lives next door to the home where the fire appeared to have started and the heat of the flames caused her to wake up.
“I just woke up because our bedroom was orange. I went and pulled the curtain back and the flames were higher than our window. Literally jumped up, went and got a our pets and got out,” Jasmine Rauseo said.
“The fire was coming through the walls behind their cages.”
Another neighbour said she called 911 after she was also awoken by the flames.
“I was sleeping, but I heard the click, click, click. I said, ‘what is that? Was it raining’ I said. So I opened the curtain and then the fire is right in my face,” Robbie Wong explained.
Crews remained on scene as of 5:30 a.m.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
