Officials say there was ‘little rain’ in the eastern part of the province over the last 24 hours and that the fire is now 5,800 hectares in size. That’s  more than double what the fire was Monday when it was approximately 2,800 hectares.

High winds pushed the fire further north yesterday and the east shore of Caddy Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park remains closed.

No homes or cottages have burned to date but minor damage has been reported to some sheds in that area.
