MONTREAL – Police are investigating after the body of Hui Chen, an east-end resident who mysteriously disappeared from her home, was found in the Saint Lawrence River on May 1.
“Her family is coming soon to Montreal,” said Mei Guo, a close friend of Hui Chen.
“It is sad.”
Police are working to determine the circumstances leading up to her death.
Hui went missing in the middle of the night of Feb. 19 after her husband went to sleep.
He woke up to see that she was gone, and had taken nothing but her winter coat.
“She just left all her belongings at home. She doesn’t have keys, ID, credit cards, passport,” said Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture at the time.
