It’s official – the Vancouver Giants will be making the Langley Events Centre their new home.

The team will remain as the Vancouver Giants.

The team will consider still using the Coliseum for events like the annual teddy bear toss.

WATCH: A familiar story, Vancouver is too expensive to live in so someone moves to Langley… In this case it is the Vancouver Giants. The team is leaving the Pacific Coliseum and relocating to the Langley Events Center. Jay Janower reports.

There has been months of speculation about the move and Langley Township councillor Charlie Fox spoke to CKNW saying:

The city has facilitated the move, we worked with them in whatever way shape or form we could to try and facilitate anything that they wanted.

The Langley Events Centre, home to the Vancouver Stealth lacrosse team, among many others, has a capacity of 5,276.

The Giants also plan on bidding for the 2019 and the 2020 World Junior Championships in a joint bid with Edmonton.

This move means the Langley Rivermen of the BCHL will now relocate to George Preston Arena in Langley. The Vancouver Stealth team is not going anywhere.
