WINNIPEG – A fiery crash on Opaskwayak Cree Nation has claimed the lives of three people and seriously injured a fourth.
RCMP were called to the scene of a vehicle fire in the community at around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.
When they arrived on scene a woman was found outside the vehicle with serious injuries who was taken to hospital.
Officers found three people inside the vehicle who were all pronounced deceased on scene.
Mounties say it appears the vehicle went off the road and hit a concrete barrier, causing it to ignite.
A traffic analyst is assisting with the investigation.
Investigators are looking at speed and alcohol as contributing factors.
RCMP say they’re concerned about the number of fatalities on provincial roads so far this year.
They’re asking drivers to slow down and also to plan ahead if they anticipate that they’ll be drinking.
