The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is reaching out to the public for help to solve the homicide of a Surrey man three years ago.

On Feb. 20, 2013, 29-year-old Vimal Chand was found dead in the family car near 140 St. in Surrey, but the case remains open.

“You cannot imagine what it feels like, to know that your brother has gone out to the grocery store only to wander for four days where he is, and then receive the devastating news that someone has taken his life” said Chand’s sister in a video from IHIT.

“It is my hope that someone who knows what happened to him will come forward,” she said.

She says her mom and dad have not been the same since her brother’s death, but says knowing who was responsible for his death might help the family heal.

“I was married shortly before Vimal died, and all he would ask me is, ‘When will you have a baby?’,” she said. “Now he’ll never be able to meet my son.”

IHIT is asking anyone who did not come forward during the initial investigation to contact them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact IHIT or Crimestoppers to remain anonymous.
