An inspirational walk across British Columbia for multiple sclerosis is nearing its final steps.
Tim Michalchuk, a mechanic from Bella Coola, made his away through the Fraser Valley today, as he completes his ‘A million steps to stop MS‘ walk.
He began his walk in Prince George on April 2, determined to raise awareness after his wife Shannon, who has had MS for over five years, suffered a relapse.
“She went from independent to invalided in the blink of an eye,” he said.
He’s hoping to raise money to pay for stem cell therapy that takes place in the United States.
Shannon and their two children joined Tim in Hope earlier this week, and are travelling alongside Tim in the last days of his trek.
“The fact he’d do something like this for me, it absolutely blows me away,” said Shannon.
“I can’t imagine anyone else willing to do this to me.”
Tim hasn’t reached his fundraising goal (which you can donate to here) yet, but says he has one goal, which will continue even after his walk ends.
“To get her back to normal if possible,” he says.
“And if not possible, stop it in its track, so we can keep her where she’s at.
“My kids need a mom.”
