EDMONTON — A Fort McMurray man has been arrested and charged with several offences, including first-degree murder, in the 2015 death of an Edmonton man.
Jonathan Piche was arrested in Fort McMurray on Wednesday evening. The 32-year-old has since been charged with first-degree murder in Deng Mathew Garang Tong’s death.
Piche was also charged with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault related to the February 2015 incident that left Garang dead and two other men in hospital with stab wounds.
At around 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 22, 2015, police were called to a weapons complaint in the area of 102 Street and 107 Avenue where two men were found with stab wounds.
The investigation led police to an apartment building one block away, where Tong was found with stab wounds.
Tong was taken to hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Clinton Robert Kailek, 26, Billy Joe Nelson, 37, and Tyler Strathdee, 27, were previously charged in Tong’s death.
Tong’s death was Edmonton’s third homicide of 2015.
