If ever there were a better day to question everything you read on the Internet, it’s April Fool’s Day. This year, tech companies, big name brands and Internet giants alike stopped at nothing to come up with clever pranks to try to out-do each other in viral fandom.

And while many of them are worthy of a good face-palm, every year someone comes up with a prank that is truly LOL-worthy. Here is a look at some of the best – and worst – April Fool’s pranks on the Internet so far this year:

OpenTable is already pretty useful when it comes to finding noteworthy new restaurants to try. But what if you wanted to taste a dish before you booked a reservation? Introducing Lickable Photos — simply select a disk you’d like to taste, tap the taste icon and lick your phone.

“Similar to how fingerprint readers recognize the tiny lines that make up each unique fingerprint, our Taste technology recognizes the unique taste bud patterns on your tongue to re-create the flavor profiles in your brain,” reads OpenTable’s FAQ.

But the feature does comes with a warning.

“OpenTable Taste has gone through extensive testing to ensure its safety to most users and phones. Be aware that Taste may be highly addictive to some users. With excessive use, OpenTable Taste may desensitize taste buds and make you feel full though still hungry. Exercise caution as over-licking is similar to over-eating,” reads the website.

Lexus V-LCRO Technology

You can now be seamlessly connected with your car thanks to Lexus’ V-LCRO technology. The car manufacture has created a car seat fitted with Velcro Technology to ensure the driver stays in the proper position through the most aggressive driving tactics. It’s unclear if the Velcro Technology fitted suit comes with the purchase of the car.

According to a YouTube spokesperson, the rapper was involved in almost every aspect of creating the feature, right down to coding some of it himself.

“Today’s daters are more sophisticated than their predecessors,” explained Roger Flanagan, Zoosk software engineer. “They’re tired of matching on trivial things and are looking for a more meaningful way to connect. We’ve found that way, and that way is burritos.”

Burrit-OH matches users based on the 32 ingredients inside of a burrito. The app uses complicated mathematical algorithms to match people based on their love of the Mexican favourite.

“Burrit-OH! uses the cool math like algorithms; formulas; addition and subtraction; the Pythagorean theorem; sine, cosine, and tangent; and even that weird one with -b and the ± square root in it,” reads the website.
