A Good Samaritan helped save a suicidal man from jumping onto the subway tracks at a Philadelphia subway station.
On Wednesday morning cameras caught a desperate struggle between the despondent man and his wife who can be seen pulling at her husband as he inches closer to the subway tracks.
As the wife clings to her husband, a good Samaritan appears and helps drag the man in crisis away from the tracks and a possible electrocution from the lethal third rail.
“An angel dropped down onto Race Vine Station this morning, that angel is a very large man,” SEPTA Police Chief Tom Nestel told KYW News.
Once the first good Samaritan helped out, three other people took action pressing the emergency call buttons which alerted dispatchers who stopped trains and shut down the third rail.
With the man safely away from the tracks, the wife gives the good Samaritan a hug.
“Sometimes there’s a happy ending to a sad story, we were able to get mental health treatment for the man and his family didn’t have a tragedy,” Nestel said.
