Vancouver police are investigating another sexual assault in the Oak Street area.
Police said a woman was assaulted near Oak Street and West 48th Avenue around 11 p.m. Friday.
The victim, a UBC student, was approaching the front door of her home when she was grabbed by a man who had been following her. The suspect then began punching her and grabbing at her clothing. She was not physically injured in the incident.
The victim’s housemates were able to scare away the suspect. They say he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and balaclava and is 5’8″ to 5’10” tall with an average build.
Neither the K-9 unit nor police helicopter was able to locate the suspect.
Nearly two weeks ago, a 16-year-old boy was arrested after two women were sexually assaulted near Oak Street. Police say a woman was walking her dog around Alder Street and West 10th Avenue at around 10:15 p.m. when she was approached from behind and grabbed by a stranger. Another call came in around 10:30 p.m. with reports of a similar incident near Birch Street and West 13th Avenue.
Police are investigating four previous assaults in the same area, spanning the period from Feb. 24 and March 3.
