Charges have been laid after police chased a vehicle from Oshawa to Ajax before boxing it in with their cruisers and using a Taser to arrest the driver.
Durham Regional Police say an officer spotted the vehicle driving erratically around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, but that it refused to stop and made its way westbound on Highway 401 with cruisers in pursuit.
As police followed with their sirens blaring, the vehicle got off the highway and was boxed in, hitting one of the assembled cruisers before stopping.
It’s alleged the driver resisted arrest, prompting a struggle that ended with the use of a Taser and the assistance of the K-9 unit. He and a male passenger were taken to hospital for minor injuries.
Thirty-eight-year-old Douglas Adams, of Oshawa, is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to stop for police, failing to comply with undertaking and two counts each of prohibited driving and driving while under suspension.
