EDMONTON – Edmonton police were called in to assist after a semi got stuck under a rail overpass near the Alberta Legislature at 98 Avenue.
Police said it happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The driver was uninjured.
The area was blocked off and is expected to remain that way for hours, a city worker told Global News.
Just before 6 p.m., Edmonton police said the bridge would be closed so that the semi could be removed. The closure was expected to last “until late evening.”
At 7:30 p.m., police said the bridge was reopened to traffic.
Despite the damage to the back of the semi, the overpass is still structurally sound.
