KELOWNA – It was a taste of Thailand in Kelowna Sunday. A Thai Consul-General paid a visit to the city hosting an event aimed at forging stronger connections between Thailand and Canada.
“We have trade relations and many Canadians visit Thailand, but when we ask they know more about our beaches and Thai food. We would like our friends to know more about Thailand in other aspects as well,” says Consul-General Sutthiluck Sa-ngarmangkang.
The event at a local library featured Thai food and books about the country that the Royal Thai Consulate-General was donating.
Thai authorities believe that forging personal ties between the two countries will have other benefits as well.
“We believe that if we know more about each other that will boost our trade relations and cultural ties,” says Sa-ngarmangkang.
Similar events are planned in Vernon and Kamloops this week.
