EDMONTON — A 39-year-old man was charged with 28 offences Friday following an early-morning police pursuit in southeast Edmonton.

Just after 4 a.m., police noticed a 2005 Chrysler 300 speeding along 36 Avenue near Richfield Road. Officers followed the car to the area of 57 Street and 19 Avenue where the man driving the vehicle got out and started walking away.

When police approached the man an altercation took place. One officer tried to use their conducted energy weapon but wasn’t successful. The suspect then pulled a loaded .40 caliber handgun from his jacket and pointed it at the officers, police said in a media release Friday afternoon.
