Nestlé Canada announces Delissio pizza recall over glass concerns

Nestlé Canada announced Thursday it was voluntarily recalling select Delissio brand pizzas over concerns some of them may contain small pieces of glass.

Nestlé said the recall is precautionary and due to an “abundance of caution.”  It doesn’t affect any other Delissio products sold in Canada.

The source of the glass is believed to be spinach, an ingredient used on both types of pizza.

Although Nestlé hasn’t received any complaints from Canadian consumers, the company said a small number of American consumers filed complaints, none of which involved injuries.

“We are immediately informing all of our customers who received these batch codes and arranging for these products to be removed from store shelves,” Nestlé said in a news release.

Consumers who purchased pizzas with the affected batch codes are asked to contact Consumer Services for reimbursement at 1-855-395-1238 and then dispose of the product.

Nestlé also said it had contacted the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to let them know.

The pizza was sold at locations throughout Canada.
