WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Police have confirmed the Homicide Unit is now involved in the Cooper Nemeth case but say it is to help with “the amount of information coming in,” according to a police news release.
Police said the unit’s role is to provide additional resources and is not a confirmation on Nemeth’s whereabouts or status.
The case remains classified as a missing person investigation.

Family and friends have re-iterated the same message on their website, FindCip.com
“But Cooper could very well still be alive and we’re not giving up until we find him.”
The site has asked supporters and searchers to ignore “rumors and speculation out there” and “please don’t let them take hold.”
Taylor Neufeld, a classmate of Nemeth’s said his friends in school can only focus on one thing.
“No one’s really at school, they’re all participating in the morning search. But people at school are sad,” said Neufeld.
The search continues for the seventh day on Saturday.
