International singing icon Beyoncé stole the halftime show at Super Bowl 50, yanking the spotlight away from British band Coldplay, who were the planned headliners.
Anticipation was huge for Beyoncé’s halftime performance, especially after the singer released a surprise single, Formation, on Friday.
Beyoncé and singer Bruno Mars, who also joined in the halftime festivities, were lively and animated after Coldplay opened the show with the rather sedate Viva La Vida.
Twitter took notice of the change in energy as Beyoncé stormed the field with her troupe of dancers.
Users of the social media site were also quick to mock Coldplay, who ended up taking a back seat to the more lively Beyoncé and Mars.
Did we mention how much people loved Beyoncé and her fashion tribute to the late music icon Michael Jackson?
Some poked fun at her almost-fall…
… but others found humour in it.
If that wasn’t enough, at the end of the halftime performance, Beyoncé announced the Formation World Tour, with ticket sales commencing next week. The 40-date tour will start on April 27.
