NEAR CHASE — A motorcyclist died instantly after a collision with a semi-tractor trailer on Saturday, according to Chase RCMP.
Police responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on Highway 1, one kilometre east of Chase. The accident happened around 9:30 a.m.
“A westbound semi tractor-trailer combination unit was struck head-on by an eastbound motorcycle after it crossed the double solid yellow divided lines,” said Cst. Valerie Guillaume in a statement.
Guillaume says the driver of the semi was not seriously injured.

Traffic was rerouted for about six hours as investigators examined the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
