24-year-old facing impaired driving charges after early-morning crash

REGINA – A Regina man is facing impaired driving charges in connection to an early-morning collision that sent two people to hospital.

At 5:43 a.m., Regina police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Ross Avenue, between St. John and Toronto Streets.

Police say a vehicle was going east on 4th Avenue where it becomes Ross Avenue, but failed to make the curve then hit a curb, sawhorse, traffic sign, chain link fence, and a tree before stopping near the Regina Fire and Protective Services’ training facility.

A 28-year-old male passenger and a 23-year-old male passenger were injured in the crash. They needed to be extracted from the vehicle and were then taken to hospital.

Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening, but police say both passengers are believed to have broken bones and other injuries.

According to police, a man ran from the collision. After getting a description of the driver, police found the man and took him into custody.

David Peigan, 24, is charged with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm and two counts of exceed .08 causing bodily harm.

Peigan will make his first court appearance in Provincial Court on Feb. 23 at 9:30 a.m.
