Assiniboine Park Zoo offers admission deal in February

The Assiniboine Park Zoo is offering admission deal during the month of February.

WINNIPEG — Animal lovers hoping take in the sights of the Assiniboine Park Zoo this winter, will have a chance to do so at a low cost this month.

Starting Feb. 1, visitors can pay one regular admission fee and come the entire month for free.

“More and more people are realizing the Zoo is a winter destination,” said Gary Lunsford, Head, Zoological Operations at Assiniboine Park Zoo.

“Many of our animals thrive in cold weather so it’s a great time to see them while enjoying the outdoors.”

There will also be a number of family-friendly activities during the entire month.

Playtime in the Arctic

Every Saturday and Sunday afternoon in February, there will be crafts, storytelling and an animal encounter with polar bears and seals at the Gateway to the Arctic building.

Winston on Location

Winston the polar bear mascot will be making appearances every Saturday and Sunday in February at the Zoo entrance.

Festival du Voyageur

Visitors can have a meet and greet with Festival du Voyageur’s mascot, Leo and their official voyageurs on Feb. 6.

Meet Manitoba Moose players

Hockey fans can meet the Manitoba Moose players when they make special appearances at the Zoo on Feb. 15, which is Louis Riel Day.

International Polar Bear Day

In honour of International Polar Bear Day, the Zoo will also host a celebration the weekend of Feb. 27 and 28, with extra activities including Breakfast with the Bears.
