REGINA – From public relations to marketing and branding, there’s a myriad of ways entrepreneurs can approach to grow their business.

Hosted by Saskatchewan Fashion Week and PARKFORUM, the weekend event featured industry experts in a variety of fields such as accounting, finance, and media relations.

“Working in the fashion design industry, or any creative design industry, it’s not easy. It’s a lot of work”, said Chelsea Petterson, Sask Fashion Week Co-founder.

“But when you are surrounded by people who are having the same struggles and can learn from people who have overcome the struggles and made their business better and profitable, it’s really inspiring”.

“It really is just a matter of having the information available, because if you don’t have the information, you can’t make the right decisions”, said event sponsor Elmer Brenner.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, industry knowledge is crucial. Attendees say the expert advice they received at the forum is invaluable, and can help push their business to the next level.

“Learning from other people’s mistakes is always better than doing them on your own”, said local entrepreneur Anastasia Pearce.

She says one of her biggest challenge is being a one-woman show.

“Definitely having to do things myself, because I work from pattern making to designing, I sew everything, marketing, shipping and those areas too”.

“I’m definitely more confident because I got a lot of questions answered this weekend. It’s definitely helped me create a strategy for improving my marketing”, said Pearce.

Pearce’s pieces, Gaistazia, will be featured at the Saskatchewan Fashion Week in May where she hopes to use her new wealth of knowledge to better promote her brand.
