A mother and daughter are extremely lucky to be alive after being struck by a speeding car and tossed several metres into the air during a high speed police chase in San Martin, Argentina on Friday.

A 33-year-old woman and her seven-month-old daughter were struck head-on by the silver sedan which had been stolen.

At the moment of impact the girl appears to be in the mother’s arms and is thrown upwards deflecting off the windshield and into the air.

The little girl flies several metres into the air, spinning end-over-end. The mother is caught on top of the hood of the vehicle for about 300 metres before being tossed off.

The car continues on until it hits a parked car and the occupants flee, but are quickly arrested by police.

Two 19-year-old men and a 17-year-old male were taken into custody. There had been reports that they were armed.

The woman and child were hospitalized with only minor injuries.
