UPDATE: Traffic once again moving on Trans-Canada east of Revelstoke

UPDATE: 10:00 p.m – The Highway is open again between Revelstoke and Golden. Traffic congestion is clearing following delays due to avalanche mitigation work. 

 

UPDATE 5:51 P.M. – The Trans-Canada Highway remains closed in both directions between Revelstoke and Golden, B.C. until approximately 8 p.m.

Drivebc.ca is reporting ongoing avalanche control through Glacier National Park. No detour is available.

Sections of Highway 1 east and west of the Okanagan are closed for a couple of hours.

Highway 1 Eastbound after Ramp from Highway 9 is now opened to single lane alternating traffic because of a rock fall and an assessment is in progress.

Drive BC advises using Highway 11, Highway 9 or Highway 7 to Hope.

Meanwhile, Highway 1 will be closed in both directions 5 km west of West Boundary of Glacier National Park to 5 km east of WEst Boundary of Glacier National Park because of avalanche control.

This closure is anticipated to take place between 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
