$35K, cocaine, meth seized in Red Deer drug bust

Three men were arrested last Friday when police broke up a drug trafficking operation in Red Deer.

RCMP conducted a search warrant at a home in Clearview Ridge, where 300 grams of cocaine and methamphetamine were found as well as $35,000 cash.

Initially, police seized 217 grams of cocaine, 49 grams of meth and $2,100 in cash, and arrested two men.

While RCMP were searching the home, another man walked inside with 111 grams of cocaine and $33,547 in cash, Red Deer RCMP said.

He was arrested at the home.

Damon Rhys Meidinger, 22, and Justin Davis Yakimchuk, 23, were each charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking,

The two men have been released and are set to appear in Red Deer’s Alberta Provincial Court on Jan. 28.

On March 10, RCMP announced a third man had been charged in connection to the seizure.

Steven Kenneth Nicholson, 32, of Lloydminster, Alta. is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of stolen property. He is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on March 22.
