Reunion takes unexpected twist for families reuniting dog

REGINA – A Parkside couple has been on a search for their missing dog.

The Popoff’s 7-year old black shepherd dog, Pongo, went missing in early November.

After extensive search in the area, the couple posted ads on Kijiji’s Animal Lost and Found page.

The couple said they had no leads in finding their four legged friend.

A Regina couple saw the ad on Kijiji, and believed they’d located the lost dog.

Lyle Popoff drove four hours from his town to the Queen City to claim his beloved pet, but unfortunately, the stray canine was not the same one.

“He’s missing in action, you well better find him and do something about it for sure”, he explained.

Perry Seib, who located the stray dog, said he was convinced it was the same dog after comparing photos.

“They look identical. I was totally convinced, I don’t know how it got to their place because it’s about 400km but it’s very disappointing.”

The stray dog is currently in a temporary home until the family can locate the rightful owner.

“Just keep him safe, and try and search for the owners. Just hope that the owners come forth after hearing everything and seeing everything,” said Hazel Ursan.

As for the Popoff’s, they say they will continue searching for their furry friend.

“We keep searching, we don’t quit. you know, it’s like your child eh.”
