Hall of Famer Dan Marino to speak at 44th Rady JCC Sports Dinner in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG — Legendary NFL quarterback Dan Marino will be speaking in Winnipeg. The Rady Jewish Community Centre announced the Hall of Famer as its keynote speaker for the 44th annual Rady JCC Sports Dinner on June 21 at the RBC Convention Centre.

Marino, 54, has the third most career passing yards in NFL history behind only Peyton Manning and Brett Favre.

“Dan Marino has a powerful story to tell, not only one of incredible success in the NFL, but also one of raising a son with autism and making a huge difference in the special needs community,” Rady JCC Executive Director Gayle Waxman said in a media release.

Marino was a first round draft pick of Miami in 1983 and played his entire career with the Dolphins. He was the NFL’s MVP in 1984, led the Dolphins to the Super Bowl in 1985 and was a nine-time pro bowl selection.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman spoke at last years event. Magic Johnson, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Pete Rose, Bobby Hull, Don Cherry, Mickey Mantle, Cal Ripken Jr., Joe Montana and Scotty Bowman are just some of the other marquee sports stars that have spoken at the annual dinner.
