WINNIPEG — Police are continuing to investigate after an early morning armed robbery at a gas station on Kenaston Boulevard.
The 51-year-old male suspect allegedly fired on the attendant and customers during the robbery around 3:40 A.M. No one was injured. The suspect then escaped in a stolen vehicle and allegedly fired on officers as they gave chase.
The vehicle was spotted heading west on Regent Avenue West and Stapon Road, as the chase headed north on Lagimodiere Boulevard. Police said in a statement that the driver was driving erratically and “having no regard for public safety.”
It finally ended on Springfield Road, when the suspect fled from the stolen vehicle.
The alleged offender was arrested by patrol officers with the help of the canine unit. He is facing a number of charges in the incident.
Large portions of Regent Ave. were closed off as witnesses reported shell-casings on parts of the road.
