ETS hike: Edmonton Transit fares going up in February

You’ll pay a nickel more to ride city buses or the LRT in Edmonton starting Feb. 1, 2016.

The Edmonton Transit System will also be increasing the cost of monthly passes.

Soon, the cost of one ETS ticket will rise from $3.20 to $3.25 and the cost of a monthly pass will go from $89 to $91.50.

However, ETS tickets purchased before Feb. 1 that have not expired will still be valid.

The $35 AISH monthly pass and fares for the airport bus route (Route 747 from Century Park transit centre to the Edmonton International Airport) will not go up.

The city says ETS fares have not changed since 2013 and the new fares work out to an average increase of about three per cent.
