Foul play not suspected after OPP officer dies on duty in Orillia

ORILLIA, Ont. – Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the death of a veteran officer in the central Ontario community of Orillia.

Sergeant Peter Leon says Detective Constable Dave Herrington died while on duty yesterday morning.

But Leon no other details will be released, out of respect for family’s privacy.

Police say foul play is not suspected in Herrington’s death.

Herrington was a member of the OPP physical surveillance unit and had 25 years of service.

Police forces from across Ontario have expressed condolences on Twitter.
