Mounties were called to a fatal snowmobile crash on a rural property southwest of Leduc Saturday night.

Police said officers responded to the call near the Glen Park District at around 6 p.m. and that the man on the snowmobile was pronounced dead on scene.

They said the man was an experienced sledder and had been testing his snowmobile after doing some maintenance work on it before crashing into a barbed-wire fence.

RCMP said the man was wearing a helmet at the time and that alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
