HALIFAX — Police in Grenada have not yet officially identified the body they found Friday as that of missing Canadian Linnea Veinotte, but her husband is speaking out.
Matt Veinotte put a lengthy post on the Facebook page “In Memory of Linnea Veinotte” on Saturday afternoon.
In the post, Matt writes that his wife’s death “does not seem real.”
He goes on to apologize to his family saying: “It was my job to keep our family safe and I failed. Now I have to look into the eyes of everyone that knows Linnea, especially our two little boys and find a way keep them safe, to give them love, and provide in a way that only she could do.”
Linnea, 36, was born in New Denmark, N.B. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in microbiology at Dalhousie University and owned a home in Glen Haven, N.S., with her husband.
The family moved to Grenada so Linnea could start a job at St. George’s University.
