Jacuzzi Calgary customers worry about orders after store closes

CALGARY – The independent Jacuzzi dealer in Calgary shut the store last month leaving customers worried about deposits and hot tub orders.

In mid-October,  Stefan Kelecsenyi put down a $1,000 dollar deposit on a Jacuzzi hot tub and was told it would be here in a few weeks.

“Two weeks passed. When I came into the store again and I said where is my tub,  I got a different story”, said Kelecsenyi.

When he went to the store to ask again a few weeks later, he discovered the store shut down Nov. 23 and a sign on the front door reading, “closed until further notice”.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

He told his credit card company and asked for a refund but is still waiting.

“The credit card company says it has to hold the payment because they don’t know if the store is going to restructure or move into a new location and that’s the whole problem it’s created,” said Kelecsenyi

A spokesman with the Jacuzzi International head office in California said only the Calgary store is affected. They said customers who paid for tubs and are expecting delivery soon will have their orders honoured.

Anyone else who paid deposits is being asked to contact the company for the order status.

They can call 1-800-883-7727 or email:orderdesk@jacuzzibrands.com

Meantime, the company has arranged for Sun Spa, another hot tub dealer, to handle service and warranty work for existing Jacuzzi customers.

“They’ve approached us to look after all the people who have bought tubs or chemicals, service or anything like that. So were helping them out until they get a new distributor in town.” Said Dan Windle with Sun Spa.

Jacuzzi International says they are very close to arranging for a new representative to handle their business in Calgary.
