Slice Canada’s top picks for the hottest toys of the season

It might be the most heartwarming, but gift-giving is also one of the most challenging parts of the holiday season. Finding the perfect present for each person on your list is a difficult task–especially when their interests are often very different from your own.

One group that’s particularly hard to shop for is children. From tiny tots to tweens, what’s in and hot one minute is over just as quickly. To help you shop for the little ones in your life, we’re sharing some of the toys sure to tickle their fussy fancy this season.

For girls:

Beanie Boo Plush Pen, $5 (Ages 3 to 16): At only $5 a pop, these cute-as-a-button pens make a great stocking stuffer.

LEGO Friends Star Pop-Up Stage, $50 (Ages 7+): LEGO is one of the hottest toys and it’s popularity isn’t waning. This pop-up stage will keep them entertained for hours.

Rainbow Loom Alpha Deluxe Kit, $40 (Ages 8+): The original Rainbow Loom was the toy of the 2014 holiday season, and this deluxe kit is sure to be a hit in 2015.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Shopkins Fashion Spree, $40 (Ages 5+): If you haven’t heard the term “Shopkins,” you probably don’t have kids. The brand is a big hit, and this new set will let their fashion dreams run wild.

GoldieBlox Craftstruction Box, $45 (Ages 6 to 12): Give the kids on your list the gift of endless possibilities. This two-in-one set (craft and construction) will appeal to both sides of their brain.

For boys:

Star Wars Bladebuilders – Jedi Master Lightsaber, $50 (Ages 4+): It’s no surprise that anything to do with Star Wars is a hot ticket item this season, but a lightsaber is a must for any budding Jedi.

Hot Wheels – Ultimate Auto Garage Playset, $150 (Ages 5 to 10): Like LEGO, Hot Wheels is a tried-and-true favourite. This ultimate garage set will give all those little cars a home.

Playmobil NHL Arena, $70 (Ages 4 to 10): Let them live out their hockey dreams with this quintessentially Canadian gift. The set even comes with a mini Stanley Cup.
