Woman’s vehicle stolen in armed Calgary carjacking

CALGARY – Police took one man into custody following an armed carjacking in the city’s northeast on Wednesday.

It happened just before midnight in the 800 block of 1 Avenue N.E.

Investigators said the victim was forced from her vehicle at gunpoint while at a convenience store.

Officers were later able to use a HAWC helicopter to locate the vehicle in the area of Bermuda Drive and Centre Street North.

Officers used the canine unit to take one suspect into custody. The gun turned out to be an airsoft pistol.

The victim was uninjured.
