CALGARY – Two minors are facing weapons charges after police received a report of kids with an apparent handgun in Lethbridge Friday.

Officers were called to a convenience store in the 1700 block of 23rd Street North around 6:30 p.m. Friday night, after a group of kids were seen with what appeared to be a handgun.

They fled the scene, but police eventually tracked them down after a second call came in about a man with a handgun.

Two Lethbridge youths now face weapons-related charges after the run-in with police.

As officers approached, an 11-year-old was seen dropping the alleged gun. Police eventually confirmed it was a BB gun.
