3 people charged in suspected fentanyl trafficking ring

CALGARY – Police say they have concluded a two month investigation in which $68,000 worth of drugs and multiple weapons were seized.

Six police units were involved in the sting, which targeted three homes in northeast Calgary.

Warrants were executed on all three homes and on a number of vehicles.

Although only a small amount of fentanyl was found, police believe the people responsible have trafficked a large amount of it over the past several months.

“We believe they were active in the Calgary area for two months prior to the execution of these warrants,” said Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta.

Police say a tip from the public prompted the investigation.
