Winnipeg buzzing with Grey Cup fever

WINNIPEG – As Winnipeg gets ready to host the Grey Cup, there are plenty of activities for fans, tourists, and families to try during the 103rd Grey Cup Festival.

The Shaw Road to the Grey Cup is prepping for its final unveiling at the University of Winnipeg. Global News is behind the scenes Wednesday morning, giving fans a taste of what to expect. There are tons of free and exciting events, such as an interactive Global News desk where fans can star in a mock interview with a CFL player.

There is also a virtual reality area where you can take photos with your favourite CFL receiver, lineman, or quarterback.

The Shaw Road to the Grey Cup tent opens to the public Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and runs daily until 8:00 p.m. Saturday.

On Wednesday, another exciting mark of the festival is arriving in Winnipeg. The Grey Cup is making its way to the city and is set to be unveiled at the legislature building at 3:00 p.m.

Throughout the Grey Cup Festival, Winnipeg will be buzzing with thousands of fans arriving for the game between the Edmonton Eskimos and Ottawa Redbalcks at Investor’s Group Field on Sunday. The Economic Development Winnipeg projects 28,000 visitors to come to to the city for the big game, with an economic contribution of $85.5 million dollars for the week.
