CALGARY – It’s a Christmas display Cara Sutherland thought she might never see again, but she’s now glad to be out putting it all back up.
Sutherland was shocked to wake up up Tuesday morning to find all of her decorations stolen from the front yard of her Calgary home.
She’d spent $2,000 over the past five years on her display, which included some unique artificial trees and a metal light-up “Olaf” figure.
The popular snowman character from the movie Frozen is her two-year-old son Logan’s favourite.
The good news came Thursday, after someone spotted what appeared to be her decorations on a lawn in a neighbourhood that’s a 20-minute drive from Sutherland’s home.
As soon as she saw the photo they sent, Sutherland knew it was her collection.
Police officers returned it to her within a few hours, and while there’s not enough evidence for charges, Sutherland is relieved.
“The Grinch didn’t return the stuff,” she said. “He’s still an angry, bitter guy, I guess. But we got it back.”
Sutherland is now considering installing security cameras to prevent anything like this happening again.
