Police arrest suspect in Summerland stabbing

SUMMERLAND, B.C. — RCMP have arrested a man after a violent assault in Summerland Wednesday night.

It happened in the 15000-block of Highway 97 just after 9pm.

The victim, a 32-year-old Summerland man, suffered severe facial injuries and stab wounds. He was taken to hospital and has since been released.

Joshua James Doell, 40, is charged with aggravated assault. He was in court Friday and ordered held for 30 days for a psychological assessment.

Police say Doell knows the victim and there is no threat to the public.

RCMP say alcohol was involved.
