WINNIPEG —  The snowy cold weather may be here to stay, but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying you weekend. There’s plenty to check out around the city.

The Signatures Craft Show & Sale

More than 150 artisans from across Canada are in Winnipeg this weekend presenting handmade gifts for holiday shoppers.

The RBC Convention Centre is transformed into a marketplace where designers create their own work for craft show. It’s the ultimate holiday event for those hoping to check off some presents a little early this year.

Winnipeg Aboriginal Film Festival 

The Winnipeg Aboriginal Film Festival is the third  largest festival in North America, and showcases the best new indigenous film and video from across  the world.  There will be more than 50 films screened, as well as numerous workshops and training sessions. The 14th annual festival runs until Sunday at the Bandwidth Theatre at 585 Ellice Ave.

Bahamas with John K. Samson

The Winnipeg Folk Festival is bringing Bahamas to the stage of the Burton Cummings Theatre on Saturday. The Canadian musician, also known as Afie Jurvanen, is sure to warm up the hearts of Winnipeggers with his songs about love, sunsets and hockey teeth.

Winnipegger and former Weakerthans front man, John K. Samson will open up the show. It starts at 8:00 p.m.

MO’ Olympics – Let’s Mo’ve it for Movember!

If you love facial hair, trivia and athletic challenges, then Mo’ Olympics is the perfect weekend event. All you need to do is build your team of four, wear funky uniforms and register online. There will be prizes for team uniforms, and one team will be crowned the Mo’ Olympics champions. All funds raised from go directly to Movember in support of men’s health.

The event kicks off Friday at 6:30 at 441 Main Street.

Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro

The Marriage of Figaro is Mozart’s classic comic opera. It opens Manitoba Opera’s 43rd season with three performances. The first kicks off on Saturday at 7:30 at the Centennial Concert Hall. The “prairie cast” hails from Manitoba, Saskatchean and Alberta. Two Winnipeg sopranos will also be appearing in the opera. For more information click here.
