KELOWNA, B.C. – A man suffered smoke inhalation following an overnight fire in Kelowna Wednesday.
The Kelowna Fire Department was called to a carriage home in the 700-block of Coronation Avenue at 3 a.m.
The flames were quickly doused but the residence sustained extensive smoke damage.
Investigators say a space heater ignited a stack of nearby papers.
The lone resident was taken to hospital, treated and released into the care of Emergency Social Services for 72 hours.
The fire department reminds everyone to keep the area around space heaters clear of combustibles.
