Penticton area resident killed in head-on highway crash

MERRITT – A Penticton area resident has been identified as the man killed in a head-on crash Monday on the Okanagan Connector highway.

RCMP say the 44-year-old man lost control of his Ford Expedition SUV and it crossed the centre-line into the path of a transport truck loaded with vehicles.

A third vehicle then struck the car carrier.

It happened at about 1:30 p.m. approximately 14 kilometres east of Merritt and closed the highway for almost seven hours.

RCMP Cpl. Doug Hardy says the causal factors of the crash are being investigated, adding the road was very slippery with compact snow and ice.
