Green Party weighs in on sewage dump
After receiving the green light from the federal government, Montreal went ahead with its plan to dump eight billion litres of waste water into the St. Lawrence River.
The city opened the floodgates at 12:01 Wednesday, creating a non-stop flow of raw sewage into the iconic river.
That means an Olympic-sized swimming pool of sewage is sent into the river every three minutes and nine seconds.
Many Montrealers are disappointed it has come to this.
Senior Anchor Jamie Orchard sat down with the co-leader of the Green Party of Canada, Daniel Green, to discuss how things could have been done differently.
‘The Park’
If you love this city, you no doubt love the mountain and the park it is built around – and so does local photographer Kate Hutchinson.
Hutchinson has just created a book called “The Park” that outlines her true love affair with Mount Royal Park and the people she has met there.
The book contains a series of portraits taken on the mountain, over a two-year period.
Hutchinson dropped by Focus Montreal studios to talk about this fascinating project.
QCGN: Public English schools need more funding
Eight institutions that represent anglophones in Quebec have sent an open letter to the premier, urging him to provide proper funding for education .
The groups say English students, particularly in the regions, do not always get the help they need because of sustained cuts to the education system.
The secretary of the board of directors of the Quebec Community groups network (QCGN), Walter Duszara, explained this week why he feels the government is so shortsighted on this issue.
