Taxi ride ends in kidnapping charge for Saskatoon woman

SASKATOON – A woman is facing a number of charges after she allegedly pulled out a gun during a Friday morning cab ride in Saskatoon. It started when the taxi driver was hailed by the woman just after 3:30 a.m. CT in the 400-block of 3rd Avenue North.

Once the woman got into the cab, she allegedly pulled a handgun and order the driver to take her to a home located in the 1200-block of 33rd Street East.

She was quickly tracked down by police, who also recovered a handgun.

Police said no one was physically injured.

The 20-year-old woman is facing 11 charges including kidnapping, fraud and firearms-related offences.

She is scheduled to see a justice of the peace on Friday.
