WINNIPEG — Many dog owners can’t help but wonder what their dogs are really thinking when they’re barking and wagging their tails. A course at the Humane Society called “What is my dog saying” aims to help owners be more in tune with their dog, and gain a better understanding of their body language.

“My objective is for people to become more informed about their own dogs,” Dr. Renee Will said.

The professional dog trainer said it’s important to note if your dog is acting differently in a situation than it normally would.

“This is so they can look at their dogs and think okay, maybe this dog isn’t as comfortable as I thought it was in this situation, what do I need to do,” Will said.

When a dog is uncomfortable, it is more likely to act aggressively. Will hopes to help owners have an easier time training their dog and keeping them calm in stressful situations.
