MONTREAL – Jim Popp will return as head of the Montreal Alouettes in 2016, the team announced Monday.

All three co-ordinators will also be back – Noel Thorpe on defence, Anthony Calvillo on offence and Kavis Reed for special teams.

Popp, who has been general manager since 1996, stepped into the head coach’s job mid-season when Tom Higgins was fired.

Team president Mark Weightman said the move was prompted by a need for continuity in the coaching staff.

The Alouettes ended the season 6-12 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 1996.
